Evan has recently been awarded a full scholarship to Bread Loaf’s Environmental Writers’ Conference as a contributing participant in Kazim Ali’s workshop. He has also served as writer-in-residence at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. He is currently Assistant Fiction Editor for Noemi Press. He’s been awarded the Emily Morrison Prize in Fiction and Poetry, and also received a Pushcart Prize Nomination.

Recently, he was the nonfiction reader for The Pinch and Portland Review reading series. His work can be found or forthcoming in Colorado Review, Terrain.org, Hunger Mountain, Bat City Review, The Pinch, Gulf Coast, DIAGRAM, The Rumpus, Willow Springs, Southern Indiana Review, Portland Review, Thin Air, Speculative Nonfiction, and others. He received his MFA from Virginia Tech. He teaches Upper School English at The Rivers School.

Originally from Virginia, he served in the US Army and served a tour in Afghanistan, studied in Virginia and Mississippi, and is now based in Boston working as an English teacher. He loves writing, hiking, and wine.
